Responding meaning in simple monologue text that uses kind of spoken language in accurately, fluently and acceptable in context of everyday life in the form of narrative text
TEACHING OBJECTIVES :
To practice finding information in spoken monologue text in the form of narrative

Pre-Listening
Act 1 : Answer the following questions based on your own experience!
1. Do you like story?
2. What kinds of stories do you like; folktales, fables, fiction or nonfiction?
3. What kind of characterization from characters in the story do you like?
4. Which do you like as the ending of the story? Happy or sad?
5. Do you often find moral value from the story?
Act 2 : Study the following notes!
Narrative text is a kind of text to retell the story that past tense. The purpose of the text is to entertain or to amuse the readers or listeners about the story.
The generic structure of Narrative text :
1. Orientation :
It set the scene and introduce the participants (it answers the question : who, when, what, and where).
2. Complication :
Tells the problems of the story and how the main characters solve them.
3. Resolution :
The crisis is revolved, for better or worse.
4. Re-orientation :
The ending of the story.
5. Evaluation :
The stepping back to evaluate the story or the moral message of the story
Linguistic features :
1. Use active verbs.
2. Use past tense.
3. Use conjunction.
4. The first person (I or We) or the third person (He, She, or They).
5. Use specific nouns.
6. Use adjective and adverbs
Social function : to amuse or entertain the readers

Act 3 : You are going to listen to a monologue in the form of narrative. Before you listen to it, study the following words. Then pay attention to your teacher. He will explain the meaning of each word.

Act 6 : Now listen carefully to the monologue once again, and check your answer with the teacher!
