Responding meaning in simple monologue text that uses kind of spoken language in accurately, fluently and acceptable in context of everyday life in the form of narrative text



TEACHING OBJECTIVES                  :

To practice finding information in spoken monologue text in the form of narrative

·                Inviting students to share about the definition of narrative text, its generic sturcture, its language feature, and its social function.
·                Inviting students to share about the the lexicogrammatical  feature of narrative text and the vocabulary in context dealing with the text that is going to be heard.
·                Inviting students to imitate and repeat the pronunciation of the selected words or vocabularies.
·                Introducing students the examples of vocabulary-usage













Oral Cycle


MoT ( Modelling of the Text )

·                Students study the questions/the given options
·                Teacher plays on the audio file while students listen to it to get the answer from the given question.
·                Teacher and students discuss the answer together from the given question

·                Inviting the randomised students to sum up from the spoken monologue text that is in the form of narrative text into oral presentation
·                Checking the students’ learning progress
·                Giving motivation and the preview of the next meeting.

Narrative

Building Knowledge of the Field (BKoF)
Pre-Listening
Act 1               :        Answer the following questions based on your own experience!
1.             Do you like story?
2.             What kinds of stories do you like; folktales, fables, fiction or nonfiction?
3.             What kind of characterization from characters in the story do you like?
4.             Which do you like as the ending of the story? Happy or sad?
5.             Do you often find moral value from the story?

Act 2               :        Study the following notes!

Narrative text is a kind of text to retell the story that past tense. The purpose of the text is to entertain or to amuse the readers or listeners about the story.

The generic structure of Narrative text :
1.      Orientation :
It set the scene and introduce the participants (it answers the question : who, when, what, and where).
2.      Complication :
Tells the problems of the story and how the main characters solve them.
3.      Resolution :
The crisis is revolved, for better or worse.
4.      Re-orientation :
The ending of the story.
5.      Evaluation :
The stepping back to evaluate the story or the moral message of the story
Linguistic features :
1. Use active verbs.
2. Use past tense.
3. Use conjunction.
4. The first person (I or We) or the third person (He, She, or They).
5. Use specific nouns.
6. Use adjective and adverbs
Social function       :  to amuse or entertain the readers

Act 3               :        You are going to listen to a monologue in the form of narrative. Before you listen to it, study the following words. Then pay attention to your teacher. He will explain the meaning of each word.

Act 4               :        You are going to listen to a monologue in the form of narrative. Before you listen to it, study the following options

Act 5               :        Now listen carefully to the monologue, and answer the questions above completely!

Act 6               :        Now listen carefully to the monologue once again, and check your answer with the teacher!

Act 7               :        Retell the monologue with your own words
